The best oud shop in Deira is one that lets you smell and burn the oud before you pay, shows you the price per 12 g or 12 ml, and sells real agarwood with no oil added.
Most buyers in Deira skip all three checks.
Deira is the oldest oud market in Dubai. In a few streets around Al Daghaya and the Gold Souk you will find dozens of shops selling oud chips, dehn al oud, bakhoor and perfumes. Some sell beautiful, honest agarwood. Others sell dyed wood, chips soaked in oil, and “oud oil” that is mostly alcohol and fragrance. From the outside, the shops look the same.
This guide covers what a good oud shop looks like, what each product is and what it should cost in 2027, which grade to buy for your budget, seven simple tests to spot real oud in the shop, the tricks to avoid, and how to buy from us in Deira or on WhatsApp. I have written it the way I explain oud to customers who walk into our shop for the first time.
“I want to buy real oud in Dubai, but every shop says theirs is the best. How do I know where to go, what to buy and what is a fair price?”
Quick answer
Go to a shop where you can smell and burn the oud before you pay, and where every price is shown per 12 g (chips) or per 12 ml (oil). In 2027, fair prices in Deira start at about AED 75 per 12 g for everyday Hindi chips, AED 145–420 per 12 g for premium grades, AED 850–1,500 per 12 ml for real dehn al oud, and AED 65–125 for a jar of good bakhoor. If a price is far lower than this, ask why. First time? Start with one everyday chip and a burner for AED 120, and add a jar of bakhoor for AED 65 more.

1. Why buy oud in Deira and not in a mall?
Because in Deira you can see, smell and burn the real thing, and the price is usually lower. Mall shops mostly sell branded perfumes and gift boxes. Deira shops sell the raw material: agarwood chips by weight, oils by the bottle, and bakhoor made in small batches.
Many Deira shops buy straight from growers or importers, so there are fewer middlemen. We buy our agarwood directly from growers in Nagaland and Assam in North-East India, and from trusted partners in Cambodia. That is why a 12 g pack of everyday Hindi chips costs AED 75 with us, not AED 200.
- Where: Al Daghaya and the old souk streets of Deira, near the Gold Souk
- What you get: loose chips by weight, dehn al oud by 12 ml, bakhoor jars, burners, perfumes
- Best for: people who burn oud at home, majlis owners, gift buyers, small shops
Insider tip a mall is fine for a branded gift box. For oud you will burn every week, Deira gives you better wood for the same money.
2. What does a good oud shop look like?
A good oud shop is happy to let you test before you buy. If the seller refuses to burn a chip or will not tell you the weight, walk out.
Here is what I look for when I visit other shops in Deira:
- Prices are shown per 12 g or per 12 ml. Not “per piece” or “per box”.
- There is a burner on the counter. The seller burns a chip for you before you pay.
- The chips look dry and natural. Real resin shows as dark lines inside the wood, not as a wet, shiny coat.
- The seller explains the grade. Hindi, Cambodi, Kalagasi, Seufi: where it is from and why it costs what it costs.
- There are real Google reviews. We are rated 4.8 out of 5 on Google, from real customers.
- They sell cheap and expensive grades. A shop with only “super premium” oud is usually overpricing.
Insider tip ask the seller to burn the cheapest chip and the most expensive chip side by side. A good shop does it without thinking twice, and you learn more in two minutes than from any label.
3. What does an oud shop sell? (at a glance)
| Product | What it is | How you use it | Price in our shop (2027) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oud chips (agarwood) | Small pieces of resin-rich agarwood | Burn on charcoal or an electric burner | AED 75–420 per 12 g |
| Dehn al oud (oud oil) | Pure oil distilled from agarwood | A drop on the skin or clothes | AED 850–1,500 per 12 ml |
| Bakhoor | Wood chips soaked in oud, perfume oils and resins | Burn for a sweet, long-lasting smoke | AED 65–125 per jar |
| Oud perfumes | Eau de parfum and perfume oils with oud notes | Spray or dab like normal perfume | AED 75–80 |
| Burners (madkhan / mabkhara) | Metal or wooden incense burner | Holds charcoal and chips | AED 45 |
| Incense sticks | Agarwood incense sticks (agarbatti) | Light and leave | AED 20–60 |
Prices are our website prices on 29 October 2026 and can change at any time. The price shown on the product page or confirmed on WhatsApp is the final price.

4. Oud chips: grades and real prices
Oud chips are the heart of any oud shop. The price depends on three things: where the tree grew, how much resin is in the wood, and how old the wood is. More dark resin means a deeper, longer smoke and a higher price. If you want to know how the resin forms, read our guide to the agarwood tree.
These are the six grades we sell, from everyday to rare:
| Grade | Origin and character | Best for | Price per 12 g |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dagga Super Hindi | Indian, warm and woody | Daily burning at home | AED 75 |
| Oudh Sultan Nagaland | Indian (Nagaland), rich and slightly sweet | Majlis and guests | AED 145 |
| Royal Super Sallah Sufi | Aged, smooth and deep | Weekends, special evenings | AED 160 |
| Oudh Al Maliki Visa Moori | Premium chips, strong and long-lasting | Occasions, gifting | AED 350 |
| VIP Jar – Cambodian | Cambodian, sweet and fruity | Gifts, guests who love sweet oud | AED 360 |
| Kalagasi Triple Super | Rare, very resinous | Collectors, weddings | AED 420 |

- How long 12 g lasts: about 2–4 weeks if you burn a few small pieces each evening
- How to store: in a closed glass jar, away from sun and heat
- Every chip: natural Aquilaria agarwood, graded by hand in our shop, no oil added
Insider tip do not buy only the most expensive grade. Most families burn an everyday chip on normal days and keep a premium jar for guests and Fridays.
5. Dehn al oud: what 12 ml should cost
Dehn al oud is pure oil distilled from agarwood. It is the most concentrated form of oud, and the most faked. Real dehn al oud is thick, smells alive and changes on the skin for hours. A fake smells sharp at first and is gone in an hour.
| Oil | Character | Price per 12 ml |
|---|---|---|
| Dehn Al Oudh Kalakassi | Bold, earthy, classic oud | AED 850 |
| Dehn Al Oudh Qadeem | Aged, smooth and rounded | AED 1,000 |
| Dehn Al Oudh Seufi Qadeem | Aged Seufi, deep and calm | AED 1,200 |
| Dehn Al Oudh Cambodi Muattaq | Aged Cambodian, sweet and fruity | AED 1,500 |
- How much to use: one small drop on the wrist or behind the ear is enough
- How long 12 ml lasts: many months with daily use
- No alcohol: our oils are alcohol-free
Real dehn al oud is never cheap, because it takes a lot of agarwood to make a small amount of oil. If someone offers you “pure Cambodi dehn al oud” for AED 100, it is not pure. Read our full guide: How to tell real dehn al oud (also in Arabic: كيف تعرف دهن العود الأصلي).
Insider tip ask for a drop on the back of your hand, then walk around Deira for an hour. If you can still smell it and it has changed, it is real oil.
6. Bakhoor: which blend should you buy?
Bakhoor is wood soaked in oud, perfume oils and resins, then dried. It is sweeter and easier than plain oud chips, and the smoke stays in the house and on clothes for hours. Many families burn bakhoor every day and oud chips for guests.
| Bakhoor | Smell | Best for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dana | Floral and amber | Everyday, bedrooms | AED 65 |
| Hassa | Rich floral | Clothes and abayas | AED 65 |
| Wasmi | Deep, spiced oud | People who like strong oud | AED 65 |
| Maliki | Classic oud, warm | Majlis and guests | AED 90 |
| Luzan | Soft floral and woody | Calm evenings | AED 90 |
| Majalis | Traditional Arabian majlis smoke | Big gatherings, Eid | AED 125 |
Insider tip not sure? Buy Dana for daily use and Majalis for guests. Between them they cover most homes. See all bakhoor.
7. Oud perfumes and sprays
Not everyone wants to burn wood. Our oud perfumes give the same warm character in a bottle you can carry.
- Eau de parfum and perfume oils (AED 80): Oudh Majesty, Royal Misk Edition, Cedar Majlis, Bukhoor No. 9 perfume oil, Victory Fresh Woods for men, Floral Bloom and Selina Exclusive for women
- 320 ml room and body sprays (AED 75): Oud Majesty, Bakhoor No. 9, Cedar Majlis, Floral Bloom
Insider tip a spray is the easiest way to keep the majlis smelling of oud between burning sessions. See all perfumes.
8. Burners and incense sticks
You need a burner (madkhan or mabkhara) to burn chips or bakhoor on charcoal. We keep simple, solid burners at one fair price.
New to burning? Follow our step-by-step guide: How to burn oud and bakhoor at home (Arabic: طريقة تبخير العود والبخور).
9. How much should you spend?
You do not need to spend thousands to enjoy real oud. Here are four baskets our customers often buy, using today’s prices:
| Basket | What is inside | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | Dagga Super Hindi chips 12 g (AED 75) + wooden burner (AED 45) + Forest Amber incense sticks (AED 20) | AED 140 |
| Everyday home | Dagga Super Hindi 12 g (AED 75) + Bakhoor Dana (AED 65) + Bakhoor Majalis (AED 125) | AED 265 |
| Majlis and guests | Oudh Sultan Nagaland 12 g (AED 145) + Royal Super Sallah Sufi 12 g (AED 160) + Bakhoor Maliki (AED 90) + golden metal burner (AED 45) | AED 440 |
| Collector | Kalagasi Triple Super 12 g (AED 420) + Dehn Al Oudh Cambodi Muattaq 12 ml (AED 1,500) | AED 1,920 |
Insider tip spend more on the oud you burn for guests, and less on what you burn every day. Your guests notice the difference; your daily routine does not need the top grade.
10. 7 tests to spot real oud in the shop
You do not need to be an expert. These seven simple checks catch most fakes. A good shop will let you do all of them.
| # | Test | What real oud does | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Smell the chip cold | Soft, woody, a little sweet | Strong perfume smell before burning |
| 2 | Burn a small piece | Smooth smoke that changes over minutes | Sharp, chemical or burnt-plastic smell |
| 3 | Look at the wood | Dark resin lines running through the grain | Even black colour, like paint |
| 4 | Touch the surface | Dry or slightly waxy | Wet, sticky or oily on your fingers |
| 5 | Check the weight | Resin-rich pieces feel heavy for their size | Light, hollow-feeling pieces sold as “super” |
| 6 | Ask the price per 12 g | A clear number that fits the grade | “Per piece” or a price far below the market |
| 7 | For oil, rub a drop on your skin | Thick, changes for hours | Alcohol smell, gone within an hour |

Test 2 is the most important. Smoke does not lie: oil and dye burn off fast and smell harsh, while resin burns slowly and smells better as it warms.
Insider tip after burning, smell your sleeve. Real oud leaves a soft, clean smell on fabric for hours. Fake chips leave a smoky, sour smell.
11. Tricks to avoid in Deira
Most Deira shopkeepers are honest. But a few tricks are common in every oud market, and it is better you know them:
- Dipped chips: cheap wood soaked in oud oil or fragrance to smell expensive. It smells great cold and poor when burnt.
- Painted or dyed wood: dark colour on the outside, pale wood inside. Ask to break or cut a piece.
- Mixed grades: a few good chips on top of the jar, low-grade chips underneath. Ask to see the chips you are actually buying.
- No weight shown: “AED 300 for this box” with no weight. Always ask how many grams.
- “Pure” oil that is diluted: dehn al oud mixed with carrier oil or alcohol and sold as pure.
- Wrong origin on the label: “Cambodi” or “Hindi” written on wood from somewhere else.
- Big discounts on rare grades: rare oud is never on a 70% sale. If it is, it is not rare.

Insider tip if a seller pushes you to decide fast, leave and come back tomorrow. Real oud does not disappear overnight.
12. Indian or Cambodian oud: which one?
It depends on the smell you like. Indian (Hindi) oud is earthy, woody and strong, sometimes with a leathery, animalic edge. Cambodian (Cambodi) oud is sweeter, fruitier and softer. Many Emirati and Saudi homes keep both.
| Indian (Hindi) | Cambodian (Cambodi) | |
|---|---|---|
| Smell | Earthy, woody, strong | Sweet, fruity, smooth |
| Best for | Majlis, people who love classic oud | Gifts, people new to oud |
| Our chips | Dagga Super Hindi and Oudh Sultan Nagaland, AED 75–145 per 12 g | VIP Jar, AED 360 per 12 g |
| Our oil | Ask us in the shop to smell the Hindi-style oils side by side | Cambodi Muattaq, AED 1,500 per 12 ml |
Full comparison: Cambodian vs Indian oud (Arabic: الفرق بين العود الكمبودي والهندي).
Insider tip if you are buying for someone else and do not know their taste, Cambodian is the safer gift. Its sweetness pleases almost everyone.
13. What should a first-time buyer buy?
Keep it simple. Buy one everyday chip, one bakhoor and one burner. Use them for two weeks, notice what you like, then come back for a better grade.
- Oud chips: Dagga Super Hindi, 12 g, AED 75
- Bakhoor: Dana, AED 65
- Burner: wooden burner with handle, AED 45
Total: AED 185. You will also need quick-light charcoal tablets, sold in most Deira shops and supermarkets, or an electric burner.
Insider tip do not start with dehn al oud. Learn the smell of the wood first; then you will know what good oil should smell like.
14. Buying oud as a gift
Oud is one of the most respected gifts in the Gulf: for Eid, weddings, a new home, or a business partner. A good oud gift says you know quality.
- Under AED 150: a premium bakhoor (Majalis, AED 125) or Bakhoor Maliki with a golden burner (AED 135)
- AED 150–500: VIP Jar Cambodian chips (AED 360) with a golden burner (AED 45): AED 405
- Above AED 800: a 12 ml dehn al oud, from AED 850

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the best oud shop in Deira?
The best shop lets you burn and smell before you buy and shows clear prices per 12 g. Nagaland Oudh is at Shop 106, Ahmed Mohamed Ali Kamal Bldg, Sikkat Al Khail Rd, Al Daghaya, Deira, rated 4.8 on Google.
How much does real oud cost in Dubai in 2027?
In our shop, oud chips cost AED 75–420 per 12 g, and real dehn al oud costs AED 850–1,500 per 12 ml. Prices can change, so check the product page or ask on WhatsApp.
What is the cheapest real oud I can buy?
Our Dagga Super Hindi chips at AED 75 per 12 g are real Indian agarwood for daily burning. Anything much cheaper is usually dipped or mixed wood.
How can I tell if oud chips are real?
Burn a small piece. Real oud gives a smooth smoke that gets better over minutes; fake or dipped chips smell sharp or chemical. Also look for dark resin lines inside the wood.
Is Indian or Cambodian oud better?
Neither is better; they smell different. Indian oud is earthy and strong, Cambodian is sweet and fruity. For a gift, Cambodian is usually the safer choice.
What is the difference between oud chips and bakhoor?
Oud chips are pure agarwood. Bakhoor is wood soaked in oud, perfume oils and resins, so it smells sweeter and costs less.
How long does 12 g of oud chips last?
If you burn a few small pieces each evening, 12 g usually lasts about two to four weeks.
Is your dehn al oud pure?
Yes. Our dehn al oud is natural agarwood oil with no alcohol. We let you test it on your skin in the shop before you buy.
